Creative writing award for Launde Primary school in sycamore with turned pen and carved text

Below are pictures of Stools and Tables that were a commission for the National Trust cottage Stoneywell ( This is the former home of Donald Gimson) . The cottage contains many of the items of Donald, his Wife and Children who spent many happy years here from 1950. It also contains some fantastic Arts and Crafts Furniture. My work is not as grand and  is destined for the tea rooms.

The table tops and stools are made from English Elm, this came from a tree that used to grow in Peterborough Cathedral Grounds.

I have just completed an interesting project for the Great Central Railway based in Loughborough. Two finials were needed for the stop sign at Quorn and woodhouse station they were made to specifications and drawings supplied by the railway. They were turned from a single piece of Ash 10inch by 7inch see photo below. Hopefully they will last another 100 years.
